How do you monitor your accuracy when you give an intuitive tarot reading?

In my blog post titled, “The Fool: New Beginnings” I was posed the question by John Ballantrae, as to “How do readers who use and teach an intuitive method monitor themselves?”  I think it’s a fantastic question for a discussion; therefore, I’m throwing it out there.

My answer to the question is that the feedback I get from the querent tells me whether or not I’m on target.  I don't do it for every card, every time, because it doesn't always happen like that. I do go with it when it does.

I have found that when I do go with it, the person I'm reading for can relate
to it. Sometimes, I go out on a limb and say what I see even if I think it
doesn't make sense. I'll even tell the querent, I don't know if this makes
sense to you, but I see...or, but I feel... and they validate it.  Sometimes they'll just say, “Yes, it does make sense.”  Sometimes they'll even go on to explain to me why it does make sense to them.

Hi there,

I rarely do intuitive readings as a "psychic defense" mechanism. I can do it without the cards. If I know the energy of the sitter won't kill me, I will tap into the reading with an intuitive question and answer period, very brief (like a quip).

I usually check my intuition by the cards pulled right after the intuitive message, they usually confirm what I picked up on... and if so, elaborate more. This is good for general reads too where you have no basis of what's on the querent's mind.

I don't like doing intuitive readings with cards, but I guess its a necessary evil at times.

Cheers,
RD
Thank you for your thoughtful comment Remi and for pointing out something very significant. I absolutely agree with the importance of defending ourselves psychically. Before and after I do a private reading, as well as before and after I do readings at a public event, I always take a few moments to meditate and then say a prayer for cleansing and protection.

I depend on feedback from the client. Sometimes, I get the most odd information and have no clue why, what it is about etc., but I state, "I have no idea what this is about, but here's what I'm getting, seeing, etc." and throw it out to the client. Sometimes, it's a bit frightening to trust and just say it, if it's really weird, but I take a deep breath and do it. The majority of the time, THEY know what's up with the weird image etc, or later will get back to me with, "OHHHHH, now I get that. I have forgotten etc. "

Rarely, I get signs, coincidences, etc that confirm what I said. I also get what I call Truth Chills.
Lillie - Thank you for sharing your experience.

From reading the comments posted so far, there doesn't seem to be any difference between an intuitive reading and one that depends on psychic impressions and ability.

Or is there? What would the difference be?
John B. - I love your questions (as you can tell, I've already used one to start a discussion). I think that you should start a new discussion with this question. If you don't want to, just let me know and I'll do it. It's a totally different question then the one we started with on this page and deserves its own clear space; otherwise some people may be confused as to what the topic of discussion here is, or they may not read far enough down the page and miss it altogether.
