I found this on youtube and find it rather fascinating. Paul Hughes-Barlow demonstrates how it is possible to start reading the Tarot cards before you turn them over! Using the Opening of the Key spread the relative heights of the piles and their elemental values tell the tarot reader a lot about what is happening in the life of the client. Has anyone ever tried this or have any thoughts on this process?
How interesting. I'm going to try it! Too bad it isn't a method we can do trades with on this site, but I see how it might tap into your intuition with the images hidden from view.
Well I've never used this person's method. But sometimes, if I can remember, I will shuffle the deck and then rub my hand over the top of the deck and pick up the message of the reading. And then pull that top card from the deck. So far, my intuition can be better than my card reading that immediately follows! So that's not impressing anyone with my card skills.hahaha
If I find a non-dial-up connection that doesn't block you tube.. I will definitely have to check this guys method out. Thanks Stella,
RD
Remy, as you are unable to view this I thought I'd try and write the method here for you:
The querent shuffles the cards, places the pile down, and then cuts and reassembles if desired.
The querent places the pile of cards to their left (for the reader, they will be to their right).
The querent cuts the pile and places the top section of the pile to their right.
They then cut the pile at their left once again and place the top section between the first two stacks.
Then cut the other pile, placing the top section to the right, to make a fourth pile at right hand side.
I'm hoping that makes sense.
The pile with the most cards shows where most is happening in the querents life, where the focus is
From the position of the querent each pile from left to right represents:
Past & influences ; Desires & aspirations ; Worries & problems ; Possible outcomes/Future
So from the position of the reader left to right:
Possible outcomes/Future ; Worries & problems ; Desires & aspirations ; Past & influences
Elemental associations are:
Past—Fire
Desires — Water
Worries — Air
Future — Earth
egs.
If the tallest stack is in the past position it is safe to say the querent lives in the past, there are things they haven't dealt with.
If the desires pile is high they have lots of desires and aspirations, however if the outcome pile is quite small they may not all manifest.
If the highest pile is worries and problems then they are experiencing this and are probably overwhelmed by them. Should the past pile also be quite high it may indicate these worries are based on the past.
If the highest pile is the future pile then the querent may not have so much going on in the present and may be most focused on what the future will bring, what will happen to them.
I'm glad you found it useful Jordan. I'm certainly keen to incorporate it into my readings and see what extra info it may provide. Your system sounds interesting also.
