The Questions---a reference to a comment from John B. on another thread

As I  read a thread Janet began, a comment from John B. jumped out at me.  It seemed like a good idea for a discussion and reminded me of something, so I'm pulling it out and asking for input on his question and of course hoping he doesn't mind me doing so because I haven't asked his permission (sorry John).

Basically, why can't we just answer someone's question without being in control? (His question as referring to the Will I meet my soulmate type query.)

I think the question opens up a couple of avenues of thought...at least for me.

The Questioner who comes back over and over asking the same thing over and over. Addiction?  Possibly.  Our Judgement of a person's behavior calling it addiction?  Possibly.  BUT if you truly believe as many readers proclaim, that I don't predict as energy changes, I can only read the energy as it exists now etc., why wouldn't it make sense to come back to the question more than once.  A person's life has changed, they have some new friends, live in a new country,   etc.  That person's energy has shifted, so has his/her job prospect?  Have the changes made the arrival of a SoulMate now possible?  It seems to me that returning to a question makes sense.  Afterall, there are only a few basic questions and billions of variation on those same questions.

John's comment reminded me of an incident when one of my children was young.  The instructor/mom in me had driven me to an unconscious questioning/learning mode, apparently about everything.  As I began that approach to reading a story, my child asked, with a great deal of expressed frustration, "Why can't you just read the story?  I wanted to hear the story, not do all of this."  That certainly changed my behavior!

So, as John said, "Why don't we just answer their questions and stop trying to be in charge?  Oh sure, I know what many of you are thinking in response.  I've read and heard those same responses, maybe even thrown out a few myself.  The truth is that some people actually come for your opinions or guidance above and beyond a reading, but many want to know WHAT THE CARDS SAY.  That's why they came to a Card Reader, not a Dowser, someone who throws Runes or even the Ouija Board.  I want to know what the cards say, not your opinion.  Those people probably don't say that to you, being polite, but I bet some of the leave thinking that.

So, what do you think?  Does it make sense to ask more than once for your Soulmate etc?  Should we just answer the question and leave our thoughts/opions out of the equation?

hahah for all you grammar people out there...what a run-on sentence to being my post. Didn't realize, it until later :).
Actually, Janet, I have much the same approach in my work and agree with you. I just thought it worthy of discussion and did see some of my shadow in it *wink*. Frankly, I tried to write that as a challenge to thought, more than if I agree with myself or not lol (hmmmmm do you have any sessions available :D) Luckily, I'm much more wise than when my children were younger, but an analogy can also open up discussion. The soulmate premise was springboarded from John's comment. I do realize that is a very subjective term.

As to me, whether I want to be in the counseling/soul healer etc business or not, and I'm not saying I don't, it is what I am and inadvertently what I do. I say inadvertently what I do, because it just happens. I actually do "other" work, but it has been the various doorways through which they come. For myself, I've come to think of myself as a soul releasing assistant which of course leads to healing. Not semantics, but how it works for me, normally (hahah there's a word). Frequently, people don't even realize that's why they show up. Luckily, well no, I'm sure there been a greater paln at work, I've had an eclectic and deep trained/educated background because people tend to tell me all sorts of things or burst into tears with merely the touch of a fingertip A casual comment can have a 45 year old sobbing about never making it to "Good Girl" status with her dad. It may even be someone sitting with one of my paintings and something comes up. It can happen in the oddest of ways. Speaking of odd, I seem to have a new skill for expressing grief for spirits who haven't crossed. I have no clue what to do with THAT, except allow the tears to fall for them and hopefully help them let go and cross. It does feel rather strange, though to have tears rolling down your cheeks while feeling completely detatched because you know it isn't you, almost like standing behind a waterfall. Those examples are why I consider myself more of a soul releaser. Bottom line, it's all about healing, however it arrives.

I think that sometimes even people like you and me, will turn on the weather because we just want to know whether or not it will rain today. I don't want to know about nimbus or cummulus clouds, highs or lows, the barometric pressure etc., but look at the terms I can throw out. Obviously, I asked for the weather prediction and received so much more *grin*.

Again, just for the record. I was definately trying to incite discussion *wink*. Thanks for replying :).
oops greater plan at work....not pain...my fingers frequently outrun my brain *grin*.
lol yup that thread definately blew up...I pretty much looked like this :O while reading it :D

I think you are right about the pain/plan...thanks for pointing that out.

This is an interesting question.

I find, when I'm doing a reading for someone who has asked the same question over and over, that the cards take on the attitude of "What are YOU doing to help?"   If you are hopeful that you are going to find your soulmate, you can't just sit at home and wait for them to knock at the door (although it is quite possible that they may just do that), but I find that people need to be gently reminded that they need to participate in the finding process.
