Welcome Everyone.

The study of Symbolism is most fascinating!  The mind thinks in pictures and symbols. Language is just a poor attempt to express what symbols represent. Tarot cards are pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words, because the images are essentially made up of many symbols. Tarot works because it is in the "language" of the subconscious.

Yes, indeed.

I don't have a head full of information about historical symbolism, I mainly go with what "is" presenting itself presently and develop an interpretation from there with the person who is struck by the symbol. I suppose, I meant that I work with symbols, not that I know what traditional meanings are. There are some good symbol dictionaries on the market.

As long as you don't expect me to be an expert and we agree this is an effort of exploration, I'm totally up for this!

I became especially interested in symbolism in my study of antique needlework and the statements stitched into needlework especially in the 16th and 17th centuries.  Since needlework is just another facet of human experience, I'm interested in exploring the symbols used both in needlework and tarot.
