January 2011 Workshop: The Magician, The Wheel, and The Sun

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 10:42pm 0 Comments

The workshop for Saturday, January 8, 2011, will focus on three cards from the Major Arcana - the Magician, the Wheel of Fortune, and the Sun. Why? These cards reduce to the number one, and January is the first month of the western calendar year! How are they similar? How are they different? How can we use their messages to start our year on the right path (and stay on it!)?

Hi Anastasia, would be lovely to meet you too but I live a long way away from London where I think most of the events will be held.

Have a great Easter, and lots of chocolate!

Love and light

Hi, Victoria - I'm an avid collector of decks, although I don't read with all of the ones I own. Many of the ones which reside on my shelves are ones I find interesting for their art or ideas, but which don't work for me as Tarot. I have one deck that I'm keeping because there's one card - just one - that I really like.

I love Alexandra Genetti's Wheel of Change because it's visually engaging (fantastic, vibrant color and imagery); it's multicultural and multi-temporal; and I clicked with it the moment I saw it.

I love Brian Williams' Minchiate deck because I'm a complete goner when it comes to all things Italian and Renaissance: the colors are heartbreakingly beautiful; and he did a fantastic job reworking and clarifying the original images. I find working with the additional cards (the virtues, the zodiac signs, etc.) adds a lot to the reading. This is a very good deck to use when reading for someone who's familiar with Tarot, because it's not a standard Tarot sequence (no Priestess, and two Emperors, among other things) and it really engages them in the reading because they don't actually know what to expect.

I hope this helps!

What are you doing up so late?
Hugs! K
