- Introduce yourself to the other Members and tell us a little about you:
- I am a licensed clinical psychologist, Director of Moonlight Counseling in N. County San Diego http://moonlightcounseling.com/ and author of the book Tarot and Psychology: Spectrums of Possibility (now in its 11th year in print and recently translated into Korean!). I originally learned tarot reading in San Francisco at grad school in the 1970's at the California Institute of Integral (i.e. Asian) Studies, and later went on to write the first accredited tarot doctoral dissertation on tarot comparing readings with dream analysis and TAT (projective storytelling) in a reliability/validity study. I have additionally done experimental field research on the topic of "tarot and domestic violence" during the OJ Trial (published in Tarot and Psychology). I know many leading tarot teachers in the world today and have spoken at all three World Tarot Congress(es) in Chicago (and will again next July, 2012. Are you coming?). I continue an active role in the modern applications, development, and relevance of tarot and divination particularly in psychology, Jungian, and Buddhist circles. I have been the owner/moderator of the Yahoo discussion group Tarotpsych which anyone can join at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/tarotpsych/. [Of course, I also experience the raw chills-down-the-spine wonderment of actual divination experiments like any beginner! I guess we are all beginners in the actual process, no?]. I've taught tarot internationally, including in Egypt and India, and have been the featured guest on Coast To Coast AM with George Noory seven times. My latest philosophical tilt is towards divination and (Buddhist) nonduality ala the Radiant Mind teachings of Peter Fenner, Ph.D. as expressed in my own deck Tarot of the Nine Paths (2009), constructed in meditation from Jungian Sandplay miniatures. Currently I teach a wonderful Thursday Night Tarot Circle in Encinitas at Moonlight Counseling. Always interested in building our community with serious tarot enthusiasts.
