In any tarot group, the conversation will turn to what particular cards mean to us. So often, a person will come up with a meaning that is very different from any standard or traditional meaning. Sometimes, by looking at numerology, the elements, or the illustration in a particular deck, it is easy to understand and justify the particular meaning. Sometimes it is not at all. Read More

From my Community Tarot Blog:
The best tarot readings are detailed and nuanced. A great tarot reading will also offer some sort of homework or aftercare – suggestions, referrals or exercises for the client to do after the reading is over to help the client achieve his or her goals.
Often we get more information in a reading by interpreting the same cards on many levels. We all know each card has many meanings. What some…

Some people seem to find tarot scary. Since tarot is a reflection of life, our attitude about life can influence our attitude about tarot. Read my blog post about Tarot, Fear and Faith on my personal blog, tarottrends.com.

Susan Crystal said… Hi Christiana,
I just joined the Guild and Anne Burroughs Cook gave me your name because I am interested in opening a Tarot business in Miami. Anne said that you recently finished a book which has been published. Congratulations. I will look for it.
Do you have any suggestions regarding working in Florida? Do you know the licensing requirements? I have tried to look them up on the internet but have not had much luck.
Thank you,
Susan
Also, Anne asked me so say hello for her.
Christiana Gaudet said… Hi! It is nice to meet you, and I am glad we are now friends on Facebook!
When starting any business in Florida, you need to check with the town, the county and the state. Each town and county is different in terms of its requirements. Basically, you may be asked to pay a tax, or a business license fee, on an annual basis to either the county, the town, or both. For the state, you will have to register and pay for your business name if you use a name other than your own.
If you are renting an office there may be other inspections, regulations and zoning to consider. Where exactly do you plan on working?
While the internet is helpful with so many things, I wouldn't waste time with it for this, as you discovered. Go to the county office and the city/town hall of the county and town you want to have your official business address and tell them your intentions. They will tell you what it will take in terms of fees, applications and inspections.
Do you live in Miami now?
Good luck- this is a wonderful area to work!

Susan Crystal said… Hi Christiana,
I will be in Miami from March 12th- March 18th. Do you know if there will be any Tarot groups or classes in your area during that time?
Thanks,
Susan
