I am a Certified Tarot Master — a Tarot reader, lecturer, and writer. Contra-positive cards -- Finding Tarot solutions!

- When I read this article (which if fantastic) it made me realize that I have never spent much time thinking about what a soul mate means to me and, I sure can’t think of any better definition than: commitment, understanding, forgiveness and security…also, the ability to change as needed. The four of wands also made me think of giving confidence-to ourselves and our partner.
What a great post James! I can’t wait to see the rest of this spread! I love that your articles are thought provoking. You challenge ME to go outside my “comfort zone”.

- Hi James, Thanks for the blog on the Contrapositives. I used this technique in a Tarot class last night and it sparked a lively and very interesting discussion. We, the students and I, did a spread and used the idea of the Contrapositive to clarify issues that appeared in the spread. We tossed around the idea of using this approach with the Major Arcana but found that it worked for some but not all of the cards. For instance, we pulled the Devil, added the 1 and 5 to fadically come up with 6, said that the Devil was Earth and, therefore, its contrapositive would be the 5 of Air, or Fear, which worked for us, But, it worked if we said that the contrapositive of the Devil was the 5 of the Major Arcana, the Hierophant. Something to explore further. --- In any case, thanks for a good lesson. ~David
