How I Got Spanked by Tarot Plus This Week on The Hollywood Insider Show

Well, it was an interesting weekend at the movies. As predicted, “Tower Heist”... well, “Tower Heist” was the winner on Friday... and then it got scratched to pieces by “Puss in Boots” which went on to win the weekend again!

On last Thursday's Hollywood Insider Show I predicted that “Tower Heist” would be the big winner with strong competition from “Puss in Boots.” Sigh. There went my streak! What was weird was it was the first box office prediction that we've done where Dax and I did not sync up.

Even weirder, when I do these predictions I do an oracle card spread first with the Dream card deck and then I do a Tarot Spread – the Dream Cards said that “Puss in Boots” would win and the Tarot spread said that “Tower Heist” would win. As I said on the show I did the reading a little different, I had a conversation with my decks and told the Dream Card deck that if the “Felines” card came up, then I would read that as “Puss in Boots.” Then I told my Tarot deck that if the Tower card came up, I would take that as “Tower Heist” winning.

So first, I did the Dream Card reading and got the Felines card!  So, I felt that indicated “”Puss in Boots” would win.  Then, I did the Tarot reading and the very first card I got was The Tower! What a quandary it was for me! And I didn't feel particularly swayed one way or another. So I figured, “this is on “Tarot Today Radio not Oracle Card Today Radio” and decided I should go with the Tarot reading. Boy did I get spanked!

But, you know what? I realize now that the Tarot wasn't wrong at all. There definitely was an “upheaval” at the box office this weekend. But, I was wrong for asking the cards to give me specific words and ignoring the meaning of the card – it's that whole be careful what you ask for thing. Doing it that way really threw me off and led to confusion. Instead of getting the confidence that I thought seeing one of those cards come up would give me, seeing both of them come up turned it into a guessing game. Ugh! But, the experience taught me a valuable lesson – if you ask the cards to show you something – they will – but in their own language and it may mean much more than just the keyword you're looking for. I've learned a lot from trial and error when it comes to Tarot – I'm putting this technique definitely in the “error” column. So, for future box office predictions, I'm going back to my good old way of just reading the cards and not looking for words from the title of the films. I'm not doing that again, even if the film is called “The Hanged Man.” The upside is that Dax got it right! So at least the streak for the show is still in tact! 4 for 4! Woot!

Now, let's take a look at this week's movies:

Opening Friday is the epic action adventure “Immortals” loosely based on Greek mythology. It stars upcoming Superman (“Man of Steel”) Henry Cavill as the hero Theseus and Mickey Rourke as the evil King Hyperion.

Listen to this snippet from my interview with Mickey Rourke. He definitely has his own approach to doing interviews :) Sorry about the background noise – he needed the door open so he could smoke.

Pretty epic, huh?

And we get a double dose of Adam Sandler's special brand of comedy in “Jack and Jill” where he plays both of the title roles. Check out the trailer below to see how convincing he is as a woman (snark):

Tune in Thursday 6PM PST for The Hollywood Insider Show on Tarot Today Radio. Dax and I will be talking about these upcoming movies and more Hollywood dish and... this week's box office prediction (gulp)!

Don't forget to call in for a free mini-reading or to talk Tinseltown!
