Tarot for the 21st Century!
For anyone interested in an oracle that is visually inspiring and contains great depth and beauty, the Art Through the Eyes of the Soul Oracle is a wonderful choice. This 52 card deck was created by Cheryl Yambrach Rose and is distributed by US Games.
The cards themselves are slightly oversize, but once you see the stunning artwork you will understand why - these card images deserve the amplification.
Each card scene bears one or more central figures within a context, a quote that serves as a title for the image, and a few key words. Cards are not numbered, as there is no significant sequence within the deck. The entire series is like a gathering of legendary and powerful spiritual influences, from all four corners of the world and beyond. From the LWB: "This oracle deck is a vehicle to provide personal intuitive guidance from the mythic beings and Divine entities that inhabit sacred sites and spaces."
Examples of card subjects include: Anastasia and the Ringing Cedars of Russia, Queen Califa, Lady of the Lake, and Sarah in Avalon. Sarah of Avalon's card also bears the keywords "Sacred Journey" and "Pilgrimage." The description in the LWB provides an expanded meaning of the card, plus one page of additional information to further your understanding and relationship to the card.
The information contained in the LWB is sufficient enough to give the reader ample information to understand each card, although that is not necessarily required. As the creator states, these cards are for meditation, "deep insights and profound answers are hidden within the paintings." Additionally, the LWB contains a black and white image of each card before its description, and the cards are listed in alphabetical order for ease.
While Ms. Rose suggests these cards for meditation or daily guidance, I can also imagine these being used by practitioners of Reiki, hypnotherapy or counseling as a way of clearing the path of a client or stimulating reflection during a session.
