Tarot for the 21st Century!

Good afternoon everyone. I have just returned from RS09 and am quite inspired. I have searched for a teacher/mentor for years and am still looking. After RS09 I decided it was time to consider becoming certified. That would not only put me through my paces earning my certification but it would also put me in touch with others who study and enjoy tarot and I may finally find my elusive teacher!

Does anyone have any thoughts on cerfitication? Is anyone here certified? Which vehicle did you use to become certified and how much did it cost to do so? What are the benefits of certification besides personal satisfaction and how long did it take?

So many questions I know!

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Different people pursue Certification for different reasons. You have to explore why you want to be Certified and what value it will bring to you. Information about Certification, a FAQ Sheet, reasons for Certification and the policy and procedures of the Guild's Certification Board can all be found on the Certification Group page and Forum at: http://Certification.TarotGuild.com

There are a lot of misconceptions of what Certification is and isn't. Certification doesn't make you a better reader or prepare you to be a professional reader. It is actually more for the Client (in my view). At least with the Guild's Certification, it reassures them of your competency, that you have agreed to uphold certain professional standards and the Guild's Code of Ethics.

This is purely a professional business decision. As Wald Amberstone, creator The Tarot School of NY & The Readers Studio, said on a recent broadcast of our Tarot Today radio show, "If Tarot wants to get to the point of being recognized by the public as a dependable professional body, then something like this (certification) will have to be done..."

I invite everyone interested to explore Certification and ask questions!

I have played around with the idea of certification. But that takes money that I am not currently willing to pay to become certified.
I'm not so sure that certification would help me, thus making the investment worth it.

I guess it all depends upon how you will use that certification, and in your case it seems that you want to use it as a learning tool?
