U-Predict – THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2012 – 10/30/2012

Of all the U-Predict shows we have done, I faced blogging this with a lot of trepidation.  I take Project TAROT seriously; this is a thought-provoking inquiry into if the cards can answer the big questions across a large audience.  It is also an inquiry about how the archetypes speak to us as a species, a tribe.  That is the heart and soul of the project.  If multiple, studied people come together and look at these archetypes, does something beg to be studied deeper.  Is there a message for all of us in the story they tell.  We are not looking to be flippant; so far we have gotten far from flippant answers.  As you read this, I think you will see that again, we got much more than what we bargained for in this reading.

With the approach of Hurricane Sandy and the unsettled weather across the US, we had a small but dynamic reading room.  The Reading Room for this topic included: IvyLieberman, Mary Nale, Jean Maurie Puhlman, Elizabeth Drennan, Staci Baylie, SkatingAngel, Mary Brown, ReeNee Cummins, and Dax Carlisle.

The question is simple enough – who is going to win the Presidential election.  However I felt that we needed a broader examination of that question, so we asked several questions dealing today’s society and the nasty divide that seems to affect all aspects of life.

The Project TAROT moment cards represented the underlying feelings of the whole country – 5’s of all suites was pulled 12 times.  The number 5 is the most dynamic of the numbers. It is unpredictable, always in motion and constantly in need of change. However, the 5’s need of change can create anger and disruption in the other parties involved.  Change is hard for most people – change that goes against what someone has been taught since childhood even harder.  Change causes fear, fear causes anger – hence the nasty mood the country is in.

We also pulled fifteen 8’s of all suites.  In many interpretations, 8 puts the emphasis in the areas business, finances and authority.  Yes, this is what it is all about – money, and who is in power.  However, turn it on its side, and you have the Lemniscate – the sign of infinity.  Here it stands for what goes around comes around; as you sew so shall you reap.  If we look at our entertainment as a sample of who we areas Americans, we are faced with overly-dressed women screeching at each other on reality TV, men shooting each other up in action movies, and young people who think they can figure out how to live life by watching the whole thing while eating junk food.  Oh, and forget face to face conversations - just text your significant other that you are breaking up.  So when people want to know where we got the screwball congress that has done nothing for years and two presidential candidates who many people will vote against, we only have ourselves to thank.  This election is not about either candidate.  It’s about declaring that the drunken weekend is over, and we’d better get our act together and do better.

We also pulled twelve 4’s, mainly wands.  This is the people card – home, family, community.  This is what we want at a collective consciousness level.  We want someone who will restore community.  This is the hard part.  Several editorial and opinion pieces in newspapers and blogs across the country claim we have not been this divided since the civil war.  Some may feel this is too severe; but considering a man drove my husband off the road and wanted to fight him over his Obama and Zen Temple bumper sticker a week ago, I understand why a writer would interpret the mood of this country that way.

As far as Major Arcana cards, we pulled The Star ten times.  While it does offer hope, a little esoteric digging shows that the final outcome is distant, and that it is something that the questioner is going to have to work towards.  It does not guarantee a fast solution.  The card appeared in questions about both candidates; both men truly believe that they have a way out of our mire.  However, the star appeared the most when we were talking about society in general.  There is a way out of this mess, but we must take responsibility towards solving our problems in a satisfactory way.  We must also take responsibility for speaking out when the ideas proposed are not too our liking.  Social media has started revolutions in other countries; it’s time we figured out how use this tool to change our fate as well.

The last 3 Project TAROT cards tell the tale of the election – The Hierophant, The Tower, and The Judgment.    When it came to asking if Mitt Romney would be president, there were four instances of The Tower pulled.  Of course this is the card that defines that a project or situation that was built on a shaky foundation will completely fall apart.  It is when the truth sets people free.  Some of the Reading Room’s comments when dealing with all these Towers were Ivy Lieberman stating “promises made will prove disappointing” and that “the light will shine on the cheaters, and they will be held accountable.”  Jean Maurie Puhlman stated that at least 3 states will have to be recounted.  Both Mary Brown and ReeNee felt that the storm would have implications for the election and how it would be decided.

After asking if President Obama would be reelected Mary Nale used her clairvoyance to state that “This is Obama's turn to really get things done” and she “felt” the Justice card surrounding the question.  The Hierophant card came up repeatedly when asking if Obama would be reelected.  ReeNee suggested that it could come down to an Electoral College decision; with the popular vote going to Romney (currently the news-cranking machine shows Obama ahead as far as Electoral College votes).  This definitely would divide the country, considering how few Americans understand how the Electoral College process works.  Consensus in the Reading Room is that this would implicate something other than a straight out win for one candidate or the other.

The final card, The Judgment, appeared when asking questions about how the future will be.  The Judgment has the concept of being “raised from the dead” – meaning leaving old, bad habits and associations behind.  I think the tarot is telling us that it hopes we are sick of campaigning and the political landscape that surrounds us, and that we need to begin fresh.  Perhaps Mayor Bloomberg of New York talking about mega-storms and climate change may be the start.   It is time to heal and renew.

Clairvoyant Mary Nale had insights as we were on-air that fit the Judgment card as well.  She said that America is about to become a way better place...there's something about contracts....but it will be good.  She went on to say that this will be a time of honoring the plans and commitments that are being ignored .  She did say that some people will be pushed out of the way to accomplish what is to be accomplished.  Elizabeth Drennan added “I’d like to think Obama will win, and it will push the congress into cooperating.”

So there you have it.  An hour-long reading on what’s ahead.  Is the answer about who is going to be elected perfectly clear?  Not really.  Can America take the advice about becoming a better society?  Well, that’s up to each of us individually.  U-Predict...

Coming from you, that means a lot.  Like you said "the truth, and nothing but".
